2004 90 hp Rectifier replacement I am a newbee to the forum and I hope I am not repeating an older concern. I recently purchased a boat with a 2004 90 hp 4 stroke mercury outboard. I know after researching that it has a bad rectifier/voltage regulator. Tach does not work, battery voltage 18+. Original part #804278T11 has been replaced with #804278A12 (almost 700 Canadian) which includes a wire harness.
Mercury Tach Problems Re: Mercury Tach Problems - is rectifier bad, or stator?? I just went back and re-read the posts. If the stator is arcing over to ground, it could make your tachometer go crazy. That arc would be the source of the electrical noise of item 1. If the switch sweep doesn't help, you're back to a bad stator. hope it helps John
